WHAT WE OFFER

<< PAGE 1 | PAGE 3>>

Library Books

We run a library book system for all children. Each child has their own folder with a chosen book which they are then encouraged to take home and share with their parents/carers, these are then changed on regular basis.

P.E./Music & Movement

We offer music and movement within our sessions and encourage the children to play instruments, dance and sing nursery rhymes and songs. We offer children the opportunity to participate in a variety of physical activities. We aim to encourage teamwork, turn taking and individual skills such as balancing, hand/eye co-ordination and to move with control & co-ordination.

Rising 5’s

We run an afternoon arts & crafts session on Mondays, which caters for all our Rising 5’s (children starting school in the September term).
This session offers children the chance to experiment and experience the use of different paints, materials and activities for the older age group, and a chance for the staff to try out new ideas with the older children. Amongst many other things our children have tried weaving, worked with clay, made jewellery, and experimented with different types of paint and styles of painting.

Gardening

We aim to promote healthy eating and an understanding of plants and the environment. We have received a grant from The Primary Trust which has now enabled us to develop our allotment/garden area. Children now have the opportunity to plant, water, dig and of course get muddy!. By growing their own lettuces, runner beans, peas, strawberries etc, we hope that all children will learn where fruit and vegetables come from and how satisfying it is to see how a garden grows and of course be able to eat the end results.
